Create iSCSI Target by Using General SCSI device

CDP device allows for constants data protection. That means user can restore data from any given point in the past - since data is contently backed up, there is no need of creation additional backups. Here user can choose to create a CDP which is linked to already existing target.

Creating A CDP Linked Target Device

Follow the steps below to create a CDP Linked Target device:

Step 1. Select Service-> Create Target from the Storage pop-up menu on the main interface of KernSafe iSCSI SAN.

Choose Advanced Device in the Device Type group.

Press the Next button to continue.

Step 2. Select the CDP Linked Target device in the iSCSI Advanced Device window.

Press the Next button to continue.

Step 3. Configure CDP parameters

Chose your base target from list already existing ones.

In Time Point please choose the point in time to which you want to revert the current target. Then such target will contain data that was stored in the base target at that given time.

Press the Next button to continue.

Step 4. Choose authorization mechanism.

  • Anonymous: Any users of this mode have the full access permission in default.
  • CHAP : User's permission depends on the group's permission.
  • IP Filter : Each IP address has it's own permission, user's permission depends on the IP's permission.
  • Mixed : It has both CHAP and IP address authorization.

If you check 'Inherit security roles from global settings', all client security roles are form global settings, otherwise, each client will has it's own permission.

Click Next button to continue.

Step 5.  Enter the Target Name.

Press the Finish button to complete creation of CDP Linked Target device.
